Chapter 72: Newcomer’s Rules! Knight Missions!
On the other side, Leo had already returned to his room.
After going through such a busy day,
and having used the Six Consecutive Slashes of Stacked Waves once at night,
he now felt exhausted to the extreme. He casually washed the bloodstains off his face before collapsing onto the bed.
That night, countless Knight’s Squires in the dormitory tossed and turned.
Some even began training directly inside their rooms.
Clearly, tonight’s special assessment had achieved a certain effect.
However, on this final night in the squire’s single room, Leo instead had the most restful sleep since arriving in this world.
Until early the next morning, when a burst of hurried footsteps startled him awake from his dreams.
The footsteps stopped, and a girl’s voice, as crisp as a silver bell, suddenly rang out from the doorway.
“Sir Leo, may I ask if Sir Leo is present?”
Leo felt that this was the first time he had heard such a pleasant girl’s voice in this world.
But in the next moment, he suddenly slapped his forehead.
“Damn it, I have to report to the Knight Hall today.”
Leo felt that he had overslept due to exhaustion from last night. He glanced at the water clock on the wall, then suddenly let out a sigh of relief.
There was still more than an hour before the designated reporting time.
With a hint of complaint, he looked toward the person outside who had woken him up so early.
Opening the door, a tall and slender young girl appeared at the entrance.
She wore the standard leather armor of a Quasi-Knight. With a delicate oval face and large eyes, she looked somewhat gentle and fragile.
Leo had some impression of her—he had seen her during the Quasi-Knight assessment.
Shia Lilis. Relying on his powerful spirit, Leo had remembered her name.
However, she was definitely not among the top performers among the Quasi-Knights.
“Hello, are you Sir Leo?” The young female knight wore a friendly smile, appearing very polite.
“You’re too courteous. I’ve only just been conferred as a Quasi-Knight—just call me Leo.” Leo responded in kind; he softened when met with politeness.
The girl seemed to relax slightly. “My name is Shia. I’m responsible for delivery tasks. This is your package.”
Shia took out a sealed cloth bundle from the basket on the horse behind her and handed it to Leo. “This was given to you by the supervisor of the Knight Hall, Shia. She said it’s your reward for the assessment.”
Leo felt a bit curious. He hadn’t expected that among the Quasi-Knights, there were even those who handled delivery work.
He was somewhat surprised. He knew that the Thunder Lizard that appeared later last night was part of the assessment, but he hadn’t expected there to be additional rewards.
Leo opened it. Inside was a beautiful wooden box, along with twenty silver coins and a bottle of black body-tempering potion.
“Another twenty silver coins.”
Counting it all together, this year-end assessment had earned him seventy silver coins, one bottle of Level 2 Body Tempering Potion, and one bottle of Level 1 Body Tempering Potion.
It felt like he had suddenly become rich.
Leo’s gaze fell upon the wooden box. Opening it, he found a perfectly round sphere inside, resembling a blue crystal.
From different angles, faint arcs of electricity could be seen flickering within.
“What is this?”
Shia looked at the blue sphere in Leo’s hand, her eyes filled with envy. “Wow! The Eye of the Thunder Lizard. That’s a very rare treasure.”
Leo looked at this delivery girl, who seemed quite knowledgeable.
Shia continued, “I’ve read about it before. It has two uses. One is to grind it into powder and consume it directly—it greatly helps with cultivating lightning-attribute Breathing Techniques. Otherwise, you can find a high-tier blacksmith to embed it into a weapon or armor. But… Blackstone City doesn’t have any high-tier blacksmiths.”
“The Eye of the Thunder Lizard.” Leo looked at the sphere in his hand, then at Shia. “Knight Shia, you seem to know quite a lot about these things.”
Being called a knight suddenly made Shia a little embarrassed. She scratched her head. “Haha, I suppose so. I’ve been in Blackstone City for many years—I know a bit here and there.”
She had a fairly good first impression of this newly promoted Quasi-Knight.
Coincidentally, she was also heading to the Knight Hall, so the two walked together and chatted along the way.
“I’ve been in Blackstone City for quite a few years now. If there’s anything you don’t understand, you can ask me…” Shia spoke casually, introducing herself.
Leo knew that the girl in front of him had been in Blackstone City for nearly ten years and had been promoted to Quasi-Knight two years ago. She could be considered a young veteran here.
During the assessment that day, he had already reviewed the basic information of all the Quasi-Knights.
So he had long known her background, though he still acted as if it was his first time hearing it.
As they chatted along the way, they quickly became familiar with each other, and Shia became more talkative.
Taking on the role of an experienced veteran, she introduced Leo to many of the rules of the Knight Hall.
This included battle merits, recommended exchanges for items, as well as various explicit rules and hidden rules.
“Actually, if you don’t have any major ambitions, like me, you can just take on one long-term task each month and meet the Knight Hall’s basic requirements. Delivering packages or guarding watchtowers are both fine. But honestly, I recommend delivery work the most.”
“Aren’t you afraid I’ll steal your business?” Leo laughed.
“Not at all. I can do plenty of things. You think you, a little brother like you, could steal my livelihood? By the way, how long have you been in Blackstone City?”
But when Shia heard that Leo had only been here for just over three months, her eyes widened instantly.
“What did you say? Three months?”
She looked at the slightly youthful boy before her with disbelief.
She had thought he looked like a complete newcomer, but it turned out he was a genius who had become a Quasi-Knight in just three months.
With such talent, how could he possibly end up idling around with her in the future?
“No wonder you received assessment rewards…” Shia muttered, then quickly performed a knight’s salute. “I’ll have to ask for your guidance in the future, Knight Leo.”
Leo looked at Shia and felt that there was something strangely inconsistent about her.
She was indeed at the level of a Quasi-Knight, but there was not a trace of a knight’s aura about her.
Instead, she gave off the impression of a well-behaved noble lady.
Before they knew it, the two had arrived at the Knight Hall.
“Alright, Sir Leo. I still need to take on a new delivery task, so I’ll take my leave first.”
Leo looked at the horse behind Shia and made a sincere offer, “If you have time, come find me. I can help your horse replace its horseshoes—50% off for the first time.”
Shia laughed. She had been somewhat reserved earlier, but now relaxed a bit.
She felt that this newly joined genius from the Noble Faction was quite nice, unlike some Quasi-Knights who were difficult to get along with.
“Alright, thank you, Sir Leo. To show my appreciation, I’ll give you a piece of advice for free—when taking missions, don’t provoke the Battlefield Faction…”
Halfway through her sentence, Shia seemed to hear voices coming from inside the Knight Hall.
She quickly shut her mouth, then waved awkwardly before leaving.
It looked as though she was fleeing.
Leo’s brows furrowed slightly.
He couldn’t shake the feeling that this Shia was being overly cautious.
She was already a Quasi-Knight—what exactly was she afraid of?
