Chapter 895 - 892: Disrupting the Wedding 9
They were all relatives of the Huang Family, and to prevent any ill-intentioned outsiders from getting in, they’d booked out the entire revolving restaurant on the 25th floor.
Auntie, Yang Wei and the others were especially active, acting like the real hosts as they waved the flag for Huang Xiaojue’s mother, warmly greeting every relative and friend.
There were also Huang Xiaojue’s classmates and friends and so on.
Xu Xiaoya actually hadn’t wanted to come, but she’d been forcibly dragged here by Zhou Xiaoxuan. She was curious too: just how big a scene was the Huang Family trying to make? Was this Prince Consort Huang Xiaojue really soaring straight up to the heavens?
Times had changed; Huang Xiaojue’s mom had no time to look after Zhou Xiaoxuan now. The two of them sat in a corner, not that familiar with anyone else. Zhou Xiaoxuan was sullen and sat in silence with Xu Xiaoya.
She was the one feeling the worst.
She was divorced, had had a secret crush on Huang Xiaojue for years. Back then there was Yan Xixi in the way and she’d let it go, but once Yan Xixi was gone, another Zhou Ting appeared. Now she had to watch the man she loved marry someone else, while she herself had fallen into the lowest point of her life.
She sighed and groaned, "I hate Yan Xixi..."
Xu Xiaoya was surprised. "What are you hating her for now?"
"If she hadn’t been blocking me for years, maybe I’d have married Huang Xiaojue long ago. And now it’s great, Zhou Ting gets all the benefits..."
Xu Xiaoya was so angry she laughed.
"Has Yan Xixi been in touch with you?"
"She’s busy with school, I don’t bother her."
"Bullshit. I’d bet anything Yan Xixi has definitely gone and latched onto some sugar daddy. I finally see it clearly—her tricks are way better than ours. Look at us three classmates: what are our endings now? You’re an older leftover woman, me, I’ve turned into some divorced woman with nothing to my name... And Yan Xixi? She’s got her house and car and nothing missing, plus that whole chain of boutiques, and now she’s off living it up at Harvard, picking handsome guys from all over the world as she pleases... How can a woman be that cunning? Comparing people will piss you to death..."
Before Xu Xiaoya could answer, it suddenly went quiet around them.
They saw Zhou Ting walk in together with Huang Xiaojue.
The two of them were arm in arm. You could tell Zhou Ting had really dressed up today—she’d done her hair, wore light makeup, looking very pretty; Huang Xiaojue also looked very sharp.
Huang Xiaojue was already tall, with his looks taking after his mother: sword brows and starry eyes, plus a perfectly tailored high-end suit. The whole person looked like some idol male star.
Zhou Xiaoxuan’s gaze fell on him and just couldn’t move away. She didn’t even know why, but tears started rolling down without warning. She’d had a crush on this man for nearly ten years.
But his ex-girlfriend wasn’t her, and his current girlfriend wasn’t her either.
Seeing her tears, Xu Xiaoya panicked and quietly nudged her with an elbow, whispering, "What are you doing? If his mom sees you, I guarantee she’ll never invite you again."
Zhou Xiaoxuan immediately pulled out a tissue and wiped her tears. Luckily, the two of them were in a corner, and the male and female leads couldn’t see her for the moment.
The relatives and friends all crowded around.
"Zhou Ting, you look so beautiful today..."
"Xiaojue looks sharp too..."
"Zhou Ting, you really are the pride of our family, our honor... Xiaojue, you must cherish Zhou Ting properly..."
Zhou Ting spoke with ease, "Everyone, eat and drink well. As you all know, nowadays they promote thrift. At our wedding we definitely won’t be able to take proper care of everyone, so at this internal family-and-friends gathering, Xiaojue and I want to first thank you all for your support."
Huang Xiaojue’s mom was grinning so wide her mouth wouldn’t close. "Don’t worry, Zhou Ting, we’re all family here, everyone will understand."
"Then I’m relieved. Please, everyone, just help yourselves, don’t stand on ceremony."
