Extra’s Path To Demon King

Chapter 523: Jaden’s Dilemma

Chapter 523: Jaden’s Dilemma

Right behind Wangnan, a towering, pitch-black, ominous tree rose, branches spreading from the trunk; from the countless thin branches of the fallen tree, leaves and dark flowers blossomed, and the tree fully manifested in all its profane glory.

The moment anyone looked at it, they would be in a trance and baffled.

The Dread Python was still lashing onto the gigantic wolf’s body and biting down on it again and again. Injecting its potent venom that might even render 4th phase seekers immobile if they were careless. Unfortunately, the vicious Python’s target was the Immortal Wolf.

Fenrir tore apart the snake continuously.

But no matter how many times the Wolf shredded the evil creature, due to its corrupted nature, it would simply grow back to full within a few seconds from even the smallest part of its body.

So, Fenrir, after a certain point, proceeded to ignore the snake as it could not really cause the Immortal Wolf any significant harm.

Enrick entered the fray once more, all of his wounds healed like nothing ever happened. Due to the painful experience of having been bitten by Fenrir, his mind had cleared somewhat.

While he had assimilated certain attributes of the Ragnarok Beast, if he truly fought like a beast, he would never truly amount to anything against the real Fenrir.

Which was why he had already taken the royal artifact from her sister’s body in the previous instance and put her corpse in his storage space.

With the royal artifact, he would possess an endless pool of mana for a very short time. That was his only chance to stand against these two colossal monsters.

He had to fight smart, like a human, while wielding the Immortal Wolf’s power. His stance changed, mirroring a certain martial art passed down through his family through the ages, the perfect method to bring out the best of his current beastly self.

All three parties glared at each other, killing intent oozing out of them like a tide. Neither of the three was willing to work with the others, even if only temporarily.

The Ragnarok Beast viewed every other being as lesser; it saw them as prey, so it was out of the question for the Wolf to show any compromise. Working together with another will make it seem weak, by its own beastly logic.

The Immortal Wolf overflowed with the savage, primal power of another world, which pressed down on the other two. The beast’s intent was clear; there would be no mercy... only slaughter.

For Enrick, he wanted nothing more than to kill Wangnan, so it was out of the question for him to work with the Corrupted Elf, as for his own summon, it would obviously not side with him.

Enrick was the one who radiated the most pressure amongst the three. Once he activated the royal artifact of his sister, his pool of mana became nearly endless. His eyes blazed with murderous intent against both the Immortal Wolf and the Corrupted Elf.

Wangnan wore a small smile; his emotions were the least prevalent among the three. Yet, his eyes contained immense anticipation for the clash; he would have loved to team up with Enrick to tie down that bothersome wolf first. But oh hell, maybe this was for the better.

Though he had trained extensively under Gareth for the past month, he still lacked quite a bit in terms of real-life battle experience, which was why his demon bloodline was thumping in excitement.

With a psychotic grin, he finally willed the Fallen Tree to make its first move. From beneath, countless dark roots spread beneath and above the ground, shooting towards the two adversaries at once, signaling the horn of destruction. The other two also made their first move.

For miles and miles, chaos unfolded like a maelstrom of destruction under the full might of three fated entities facing off against one another in a three-way battle; even the reinforced space of this battlefield strained to hold on in the face of such overwhelming force.

At the same time, outside of the gray fog zone-

Jaden Redmar was the main personnel maintaining the barrier artifact of the Gray Fog zone from the outside, also keeping an eye out for anything, so that there were no problems for Enrick and Wangnan to finish their jobs.

He also felt the sensation of two foreign existences entering within the barrier, but could not go inside himself. Because certain eyes were watching him, if he were able to go inside the Gray fog barrier, it would draw too much suspicion on him, as no one else could go inside it.

For now, everyone from the great kingdom’s army was treating it as a tactic from the enemy side, and Jaden was determined to keep things that way.

He was, of course, not idle and fighting enemies one after another for those he could fight, mostly weaker ones.

If someone too strong came his way, or an enemy who would make him waste too much energy and effort, he would run to another place. He would also make sure to stay within a certain parameter of the grey fog zone.

He could not see or sense what was happening inside. According to their original arrangements, Enrick and Thorian were supposed to finish killing Yasmin and Nox as fast as possible and come out of the barrier pretending to be injured. But it had been much longer than the time it should have taken those two to kill their sibling.

Which was why there was a frown on his face; his mind kept spinning. He thought of all the possibilities, all the problems that could occur, and which solutions he would deploy depending on the situation.

Just as he cut down another enemy and moved to another section of the battlefield, in order not to attract any powerful enemies upon himself, suddenly, an unknown masked figure landed right in front of him with a rune sword in hand.

Jaden’s expression turned solemn, spreading his senses and examining everything around with caution. Of course, most of his attention shifted to the unknown masked adversary ahead.

This person had come straight for him. Not only that, there was something off about him that Jaden could not tell. That strange mask also gave Jaden an odd sensation that he could not figure out.

The masked person was obviously a human and did not give off an oppressive or any dangerous feeling. The man was a peak 2nd-phase seeker, just like himself.

So, Jaden should not have any reason to feel distressed, and yet he did; he felt that way because he couldn’t figure the person out.

At this moment, the man spoke to Jaden, his voice rough but quite normal, "You’re thinking too much, Jaden Redmar. I was ordered to come and keep you busy, and hopefully defeat you as well."

The figure paused for a moment and added, "Even if I do lose, I will give it my all and learn. I do not want to sound arrogant, but please try your best to kill me. Otherwise, you will definitely die at my hands today. Though I was ordered that I must not kill you."

Jaden’s gaze turned cold, his mind instantly connected the dots, "You’re with the two people who managed to enter inside the barrier of gray fog, aren’t you?"

The Masked figure let out a soft laugh, "As expected of the one titled as Genius Strategist. I don’t even know how you figured that out. Not that it would change anything, though."
