Le’Veon Bell regrets how he left Steelers, not a fan of Adam Gase
Waking up on a Monday morning and seeing Le’Veon Bell’s name trending certainly raised my eyebrows and got me wondering what might be going on, and it was fascinating to discover that he had a pretty revealing interview about his time with the Steelers and Jets — and the mess in between those two spots — on the Steel Here Podcast.
Bell, among a number of things, is trending because he talked about getting high before Steelers games, he talked about how he regrets the ‘petty’ exit from the team, and he also spoke on how bad Adam Gase was as a coach with the New York Jets.

It feels like forever ago that Bell was in a contract standoff with the Pittsburgh Steelers that resulted in a player taking a rare year off and passing on guaranteed money. Bell was an absolute workhorse for the Pittsburgh Steelers, one of the best and most dynamic running backs in the NFL with his ability to touch the ball 300-400 times per year.
It was because of the number of times he got the ball that Bell’s contract dispute escalated to the point that it did. Running backs wear out their bodies and the market for that position in the NFL today is horrendous. Le’Veon Bell was simply holding out for what he felt he was worth, and it’s a gamble he apparently regrets.
Yeah, it was a little petty, the little guarantee stuff. I’m thinking like, damn, could I have really just ate it? Yeah, I probably could’ve. Probably could’ve really ate it.
Bell also shockingly stated that he wants to come back and retire as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, but before he does that, he wants to take a few carries in the preseason to “show you all something”.
It’s kind of crazy to think that Bell signed his contract with the New York Jets as recently as 2019. Although that was four years ago, it feels like it was a lot longer. He bounced around for a couple of years after playing with the Jets to teams like the Chiefs, Ravens, and Buccaneers, but Bell has no interest in trying to play again in another NFL city.
He loves Pittsburgh.
